Okay let me lay out the details of a hypothetical situation.
1. I have a 2005 Silverado - Not licensed to the PCM, yet.
2. I have a 1999 Silverado - Licensed to the PCM
Can I put my 1999 VIN number into the 2005 PCM and disable VATs so the BCM won't bug out? This way when you plug the OBDII scanner up it will spit out the 1999 VIN.

You can't do that with HP Tuners.
Okay, could I put the 99 PCM in the 05 truck though?
They are not interchangeable. The 99 model PCM is designed for DBC throttle body only. The 2005 is a DBW throttle body.Originally Posted by shakenfake

The main thing I am trying to do is get the entire interior from an 03-07 and put it in my 1999. Figured it might be easier to just swap the dash, door and PCM so that the 03-07 truck reads my 99 VIN and makes the swap a bit easier lol
You can swap the harnesses and fuse box and change it to the DBC combo.
