I'm trying to do a flex sensor and install and tune a 2006 Cadillac XLR 4.6 but HP tuners will not read the ECM I tried reading as an E67 but it says exceeded attempts. Any ideas?

I think what ^ is saying is that the 06 XLR 4.6 is not a supported application hence the reason you cannot read the ecm.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
