    Where to start?

I am new to tuning and trying understand where to start. I have used HP tuners for years doing minor stuff like tire size and gear ratios corrections and disabling DOD and other easy stuff.

I have a 2017 C7 GS with the 8 speed auto. I put long tube headers and cat less mid pipe on it. I have a flex fuel sensor kit I will install once I square the fuel trim adjustment form the header install. I have not road tested the car yet, I am waiting for the TCM to return from HP tuners unlock service , I did install a AEM wide band in it also "need to install the gage in the car still".
I have watched a ton of stuff online and have some basic knowledge / low level understanding of different VE, MAF, & Pe tables.

Once the car is back on the ground I will data log it, I assume it will be way off on fuel trims.

Just looking for info on where to start or the best methodology on how I should proceed.

What really helped me started was on Youtube and Goat Rope Garage channel. He has a bunch of videos showing how to setup scanner to data log, and then how to do the Maf Tuning, and SD tuning. Once you get into the swing of things it gets much easier. But his channel is a good place to start.

Pick a topic you want to learn and just start searching these forums for ideas/information. Many will post altered files for those asking questions. When searching you will see some common posters doing this and you will start to understand whose information you can take seriously.

Thanks for the reply, I think I have watched ever video he has on Gen5 stuff.
Is there a rule of thumb of what you should tune first or like a best practice. Like always start with MAF or SD. Or does it not matter?

No need to mess with VVE with just headers and flex fuel. The MAF usually only needs to be changed if you changed the Intake Tract. Flex fuel needs quite a bit of stuff changed in the Flex Fuel tables and other areas to work properly. Disable DOD and Cat Overtemp since you no longer have the stock cats. Adjust PE for proper lambda on 93 octane and make any spark adjustments you wish to make to dial in the car on pump gas first. Then you can start the Flex Fuel tune.
