    Need advise before tuning 2006 2500 6.0

Hello all. I have a coworker wanting to see if i can improve the giddy up in his truck after he took a ride in my 5,3 after i made fueling and some spark adjustments. To be clear i have not made any adjustments to his truck and only will after i scan with a wideband on the unit. I decided to pull the tune file just to see if anything had been done, He did state at one time it did have a 5th wheel in the bed but he has not done anything to it and says that from 0-40 mph its a turd. I know the 5.3s of that time are not known for being power towing monsters. I pulled a stock tune from 06 6.0 on the repository and compared several areas. First i noticed no fueling adjustments, 2nd the timing is toyed with and my big question is the max torque timing table. i noticed that my coworkers table is all over the place. I never had a reason to make any adjustments in that area and i thought it would be fronded upon. should i copy the stock max timing table to my friends table, scan and make adjustments? Any insight will be appreciated thank you.

Are you sure you are comparing two files with all the same segment numbers.

I did check the OS system between the two. The downloaded tune has a OS number my coworkers does not say anything.

Both of your files are stock. They are two different Operating Systems.

Here are the 3 most effective changes that you can make to that model.

    1. Make sure that PE mode is active. On that model, it has a 60 second PE mode delay. Zero that delay, and lower the PE rpm to 2500 or less. Then lower the PE Mode enable torque to 75% and TPS threshold tables to 75% max.

    2. Add a degree of timing from .52-up cyl air mass from 1800 rpm up to the High Octane table. I would then copy/paste the High Octane table over the Low Octane and subtract 5 degrees from 2000 rpm-up and .4 cyl air mass down.

    3. You can eliminate TM from the engine and possibly the transmission too (unless it's used for heavy towing.) If you delete transmission TM, you'll need to increase the line pressure a bit.

Let me know if you need help. I do a lot of remote tunes.

Man thank you for the help. I dont plan on making changes till after a couple scans. He does tow a racecar in the summer would it be safe to bump his stock shift timing down to about .300 for starters. I wouldnt think I would want anything quicker. And how would you feel about knocking down the kr decay rate alittle?

.300 is a good shift time for that application. The KR Recovery Rate certainly needs to be increased.

quick pointers for 6.0 truck norris tune

Truck now has a truck Norris cam, and tuned by myself v.e and maf adjustment. I did adjust the timing a little and took a little torque Managment out on the engine side. I still need to play with the base running airflow a little but in all he very happy with the results. Question is am i still leaving a little getty up and go on the table? the bottom end take off power isnt near as good as my 2005 5.3 tahoe but his 6.0 pull better in the top end. Please look over the tune and give me some pointers, anthony idle tune# idle polish up warm weather idle bump up.hpt
