A tune won't stop the engine from burning oil if it's already that bad.

Turning off the DoD within the tune will probably help some but you'd need to pull the engine apart, hone the cylinders and put in new piston rings to really stop all the oil burning. Probably will want to inspect the pistons for wear too and upgrade to the new updated driver side valve cover for the PCV problem.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

Well you didn't really explain that in your post. You just said it burn oil and smokes.

All 5.3s used in 2007 Suburbans were 9.95:1, which means flat tops with 243/799 heads. If the engine you burned up had dished pistons then at some point somebody put the wrong motor in it.
