Read and save file from a tuned ECU?

Hi everybody

I am considering to get my ATS-V tuned by a tuner that doesn't use HPtuners. I have HP tuners and I want to be able to go back to the oem tune and switch between oem and the tune-file. Before tuning, I can read and save my oem tune from the car... so far so good. Will I be able to read and safe the Tune form my ECU after the tuner (non HPtuners tuner) worked on my car to safe his file, so I can switch back to oem and after that back to his tuning file? I don't wand to look into his file or edit it, just want to know if I can read and save and reload his file no matter what tuningsoftware he used for tuning my car? He told me that won't work and I have to buy his flashing tool to switch tunes.

Solid maybe.

If it isn't tunerlocked or the os id scrambled you should be able to read it.
