Saving and Editing B8 3.0T SIMOS ECU Files

I've been using HPT VCM Editor to self-tune Audi ZF8 files for several years.

I want to begin self-editing for the ECU. HP Tuners seems to say that the ECU is supported. Is that correct? Beta VCM software like for the TCU.

I think I need two more universal credits, for a total of 6. Is that right?

Anything else to begin?

Is the concept similar? Save the OEM file, make a duplicate copy with different name, edit, rename, save, flash back?

Can I also save "canned" files I have lawfully purchased from tuners if they are not locked but are married to my ECU? I have invested quite a bit in EPL ECU tunes. That company is going out of business and I'd like to save my EPL files before their cloud server goes dark.
