    Torque management at idle

I have a 2016 sierra 5.3. I installed airaid intake and a catch can. I purchased the tuning school course to help learn to tune gen v. With the stock file no changes I get between 10to15 degrees of torque management at idle. I cant even start maf vs ltft tuning because it shows around 20 at idle. Could someone point me to a thread or let me know where to start?

It’s a tq based computer system, it uses tq to control most everything including idle..

Torque management at idle is normal.

Can confirm what Ben said. The Tuning School should be shot for selling their Gen V course. I did it all and they have no idea what they’re talking about on the Gen V. Their Gen V “expert” couldn’t get my car to even idle, and Ben Charles had it fixed in no time. /rant

The Tuning School's material was a best guess at the time when no one knew anything. I turns out that much of their material had flawed or incorrect logic. We now know you want to work WITH the Torque based system, not against it by trying to stop it from doing what it does. You may get a cammed car to idle that way, but it will drive terrible at anything other than WOT. I've been tuning for 20 years and I found the Gen V learning curve was quite steep, but I got so much more valuable info on this forum form some of the guys that paved the way vs the Tuning School. If you want to really learn something, Greg Banish's stuff if legit. I watched his stuff years later and still learned things. And then it just takes experience with the platform.

Yes it was a total waste of money. I have gone through the course twice start to finsh and spent hours trying to figure it out. There tech support is an absolute joke never got a response after 3 different emails. I can feel I lost power and drive ability by following this course. Thanks! I will check him out and start from scratch again here.

I wouldn't say "no one knew anything" I've been teaching this stuff for years. I just hadn't moved it from live classes to recorded video at that time. Our streaming site has most of what you need to understand GenV controls now. A lot of people don't like what they hear when I tell them that they have to go back and do the VVE right from the start though. There are no longer any shortcuts with GenV. Do it right or do not, but don't ask me why the shortcuts didn't work like you expected.
