Fuel Injector Data Accuracy Article from Calibrated Success

I recently had a client ask me to review the accuracy for one popular injector. There are multiple "data" sets floating around for the same part number, so it's interesting to see just how they compare to some actual measurements. The actual measurements were taken on my new fuel injector characterization bench that uses a laboratory grade flow meter rather than burettes and eyeball readings, so we have a bunch of cold, hard, emotionless data, just the way engineers like it.

Although I did this study using Ford characterization units, I can assure you that I've seen similar things over the years with GM, Chrysler and even simple standalone data. The first major problem is how people get their data, the second is what they do with it once the have it. Missing on either results in misleading "data" for the calibrator once we are trying to make an engine run properly.
