Permanently Mounting Windows Tablet (constant power + MPVI connection)

    Hi all,

I'm aware of the ground loop issues that can come up when using an inverter to power a laptop and connecting to the MPVI at the same time.

I would like to permanently mount a windows tablet in my car to replace the radio/information display and have access to far more parameters than gauges will allow without having to haul my very nice laptop with me everywhere. This would mean the tablet being constantly powered via the car and connected to the MPVI at the same time.

Is the problem of a ground loop specific to DC to AC inverters? Can I safely run a standard DC to DC converter to a tablet while it's connected to the MPVI without risk of destroying the MPVI? And, on the topic of the ground loop, is it only a problem while reading/writing or is it a problem any time the device is connected to power and the MPVI?

    Thanks

I doubt the ground loop is an issue but who knows. As for the tablet, be sure itll work first. My tablet was not even close to fast enough to work.
