    TUNE 2015 Mustang GT 5.0

Mods: CAI, long tube headers, 100 cell high flow cats, x-pipe, borla ataks.

    Hello,

I was thinking of possibly receiving a new tune as the tune I have now could possibly be incomplete/wrong. I received a tune from Stage 1 Auto in NJ, and showed my buddy the dyno data and he said this shop is clueless. These were the things I was told:

    1. "The dyno isn't calibrated as power is falling off below 5500rpm. Most concerning are the AFR's in high 13's, under load engine's a ticking time bomb. Should be in high 12's, Stoich is 14.07 for US 10% ethanol"
    2. "It probably is revving to limiter but the obv is probably not plugged in so the dyno is going off wheel speed and converting to rpm"
    3. "This shop doesn't know coyotes if they didn't rev it out to at least 7500"
    4. "After looking at the dyno data, I'd say it wasn't calibrated properly so power figures are probably off"
    5. "The rpm isn't calibrated or it's calculating rpm based on wheel/hub speed. It's peaking then dropping off in the last two runs. It's running lean as hell and a ticking time bomb"

Obviously, these are concerning to hear after spending money on a shop that specializes in Ford/Chevy. People with the exact mods I have are doing 410-430hp at the wheels so something doesn't add up. Are these claims correct based on the data I have attached below?

FYI: "Hi-Rise" intake was a boss 302 that was replaced back to stock. They also used a hub dyno.

I would greatly appreciate any advice for this shop to maybe adjust the tune or on a new tune with your company. I have an sct device currently.

    Thank you,
    Mark

without tune and datalog it would be hard to judge, a custom tune should make well over 400 rwhp

I'm in North Jersey, he is 2.5hrs South of me. Might have to do it. Shame to spend more $$ but has to be done right.

While there are obvious issues here, i think whoever is telling you the issues are being a bit dramatic. I dont see afr's in the high 13's, they are correct in the calibration targeting 14.08 afr, however, the wideband will read 14.7. The wideband doesnt know what fueling your using. Another issue if they are relying on a tailpipe sniffer, the afr readout wont be accurate. The log, reading the factory widebands, will tell a better story about fueling. The 380 is low, but also the hp was still climbing when they shut the pulls down. Will likely gain quite a bit more if pulled past 6500, where the stock intake will probably start being a restriction . Yes it could be better, but i doubt its end of the world stuff here. If it is lean, thats likely an issue with making power, coyotes do want fuel, the more fuel you get in, the more timing it will allow you to get in. While its not hurting parts where its at, adding fuel will likely wake it up.

Understood, thank you sir. I am looking into upgrading to 2018 ported intake, 47lb injectors, and bigger throttle body (possibly ported) before getting a revised tune. Are any of those not worth the money for the increase in hp/tq? They are all in a similar area so it seems worth it to just do at once.

look around locally for a used 18 Int. manifold. Upgrade injectors, get a flex fuel tune and you're set for N/A. if you're buying a new intake I recommend a ported boss, cheaper than the 18, and in my opinion, it flows good N/A and is better than an 18 when boosted. There is also a cobra jet coming soon. Those hp numbers look ok for the rpm. If you want the most from your N/A coyote e85 is mandatory. never seen a fast N/A coyote that was on pump gas.

No e-85 where I live. I had a Boss but didn't like how it held off a ton off torque until 6k+. About to get a ported 18 Mani off Facebook. Might be a dumb question, but is e-85 required if I upgrade injectors, or can I still run 93 on bigger injectors?

I'm totally content with 400+ at the wheels, fast is subjective, I'll eventually make my way to the big leagues.

You don’t need bigger injectors on 93 . You can buy a new gt350 manifold for 450 and keep the IMRC in use GR3Z-9424-C

That one isn't ported though, I'll likely spend a little more for a ported mani.
