As in it has already been tuned and runs fine otherwise, or as in the cam was literally just changed and has not been tuned at all yet?

Is the throttle body closing causing the "popping" noise?

Ok, sorry to hear that. There are only two things in a tune that can cause intake popping, or exhaust popping, or backfiring, etc; Fuel mixture that the engine doesn't like, or Ignition timing that the engine doesn't like. Usually I have seen intake popping or backfiring when the fuel mixture is too lean or spark plugs too hot, but the best way to pin it down is going to be to get a datalog of the issue occurring with all the relevant parameters for airflow, fuel, and timing. The corresponding tune file would also be helpful. If nothing in the tune stands out, the next place to look (actually sometimes the best First place to look if you trust the tune) is on the mechanical side.
Youll want to confirm your fuel pressure is not dropping when that happens, especially check for any vacuum leaks, and none of those or the tune stand out, intake valve actuation/sealing would be the next place to look - maybe compression check all cylinders as a first step. A fuel injector or two leaking, dribbling fuel or not spraying enough volume or correct pattern could also be a culprit.
Overall start with the easiest to check first (post datalog here) and hopefully it isnt too involved.
