2021 Silverado 6.2L - cammed by- Whipple- fueling maf or VE?? WTF

Im balls deep into this 2021 with a 2.9 Whipple and an upgrade camshaft. The ecm is the E90 and the maf curve is weird AF! At this point I?m definitely off the reservation as to what is familiar.

Anyone known exactly how the fueling works? Before we had the ability to use maf only, VE only, or blended by adjusting the dynamic airflow tables.

Now I only have the maf and the Neural Network VE and I cant tell if its blended or when its maf only. We no longer have dynamic airflow to switch it around.

Only issue Im having is fueling at wot . Im not even sure what to make of this new maf or how exactly Im supposed to train my VE.

Any guidance would help me out!

I did a 2021 Sierra with a Whipple, and as soon as I was able to get the MAF transfer routines to generate the correct amount of airflow, fueling was spot on. I didn't have to do anything with NN

Backwards or backward and up side down? Based on what I see i looks like you would subtract from the values to add fuel and add to the values to subtract fuel. I haven't tuned a 2021 yet but its only a matter of time.

The MAF just tunes similar to a Coyote car. It's pretty simple to just populate your fuel trim and WB error vs the breakpoints of the new table. I did a procharged stock cam deal and MAF tuning is all it really required outside of updating the MAP sensor to a LS9. I did no NN training.

Yep Just fuel trim/eq ratio against commanded like anything else!! Haven’t touched any NN either…

You can also change and edit the axis

I keep reading where people have tuned 2019+ E90 vehicles with upgraded camshaft and adding boost, that state that the Neural Network was not touched. So at what point do you need to modify the NN?

As time goes on I believe it will be common practice to mod it, we are just getting by without it in my opinion for now

I made changes to the NN and saw huge drivability improvements

How much time did it take with the new NN trainer to get it where you wanted it?

    About 2 hours

man im making changes and it does nothing to fuel trims at all, did a global 15 and nothing

  13. #13
probably missing something. these are much easier to tune than when I first started this post.

    Dunno what I?m missing?

Man it?s not liking any of it. He put a cam in it, and it?s running about 15% rich. Tried globally pulling 15 and adding 15 to NN, just to see if it made a difference, nothing. I even messed with injector flow rate and nothing. Only hacking the maf made a difference, and I really didn?t want to do that.

For future reference when adding a cam to a engine you lose VE at idle speed and gain it back and increases with RPM.. so any cam setup would need a reduction at least in idle cells and and right off idle
