    A580 Transmission Tuning

Looking to make the shifts more aggressive but not having any luck. I tried adding 400 rpm to the WOT Normal Upshift Table but it didn't make much difference. Do I need to adjust the shift pressures or the shift times as well?

Any help or info is greatly appreciated.

Try looking at the converter slip settings too.
With the converter set soft, the shifts will never be firm.
OE stock tune often has real soft converter settings, so once you firm that up,
you may find the ramp tq tables are good or even too hard.

Thanks for that info, I've tuned a few of these transmissions and wondered why the ramp torque didn't do much. What about disabling lockup completely for 1 & 2? I've done that on a 45RFE recently with good results.

I did that for the 1-2 shift with my Challenger R/T. I cut a 1.62 60ft NA. I had 3.91 gears and a 3000 stall but it definitely helped. Later, I did the same with my buddy's Procharged Charger and it helped him get off the line much better as well. He ended up dropping a tenth from his 60ft.

You can change the converter slip % to what you want and move the lock up speeds also.

Could just be in my head because I didn't pay much attention before but I think I even got better gas mileage in my daily 392 Charger after I spent a while playing with transmission tuning and I'm guessing it's related to TCC changes.

Definitely! Less slippage means better fuel economy. I've pretty much zeroed out the TCC slip and my in town fuel economy has gone up about 1 mpg. Can't wait to get it on the highway.

Two (now Three) Hemi's, an 05 5.7 Magnum, an 06 300C SRT8 and an 06 5.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee, all somewhat modded. The 5.7's are modded almost the same with advanced (10* for Maggie and 6* for the Jeep) FRI Sidewinder cams/6.1 valve trains, ported/milled heads w/new valve seats, SC, DS and HP Tuners, headers, cat. backs, underdrive pulleys, SOS coils, catch cans, 90 mm throttle bodies, plus a bunch of cosmetic stuff. 06 300C SRT8, Comp. Cammed, HPT tuned, Foose wheels, 85 mm TB.

Thats the tuning learning part. People on the forum give you things or areas to look and you try them one at a time. If you dont understand the numbers why they would have to go up or down. Make one change and save as new tune. Test drive and see what it does. Go in small increments one way. Then if it is not doing the thing your looking for, go the other way in increments. If it does nothing either way. You try another section. I have used the torque reduction tables to increase shift firmness
