does tuning the ve tables make a difference?

Does anyone know if tuning the ve tables makes a difference on the lsj of is it just a back up incase of a maf failure. Will I make more power with them tuned or just concentrate on maf, injector flow rate, timing and the pe enrich.
    Thanks,Chris.

even if it is just a "backup"....
it would still be beneficial to tune it as well....
some people think that is its just a backup that it doesnt need to be worked on or "fixed"....
but would you have a backup flashlight for when the lights go out and not have good batteries in it??

if it is a backup then obviously you dont need it to be the first thing on your list of things to work on...but you still need to work on it when you are finished with what you feel are the important parts of the tune

It uses the VE table for quick throttle position changes as well, so a better VE means smooth shifts for the most part.

Also, even when it is not using the VE for fuel, if it is too far off from the MAF values, it can throw a lean/rich code, or even the p0068 code (maf correlation) and throw you into limp mode.
