    4l60E TCC SLIP 80 - 90 % and only comes on once.

I have a 4l60E when you take off and go though the gears it calls for the TCC to come on and it does but the slip is 80-90 %. Once you gear down for any reason it never calls for it again. It stays off until you turn engine off and back on. It will throw code P0741 - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Performance/Stuck Off.

    T42, TCM, GM A4 OP 24235341

Usually a worn out TCC regulator bore.

Transmission was rebuilt by local shop for this LS sawp. Has less than 1000 miles.

Get it back to them, they missed something.

Thanks I was hoping it was something in the Tune. This transmission was in my 06 Colorado and has no VSS signal. Did not know if the T42 TCM was doing something different from the P12 ECM that it used to run on.

That changes the equation a bit. 06 might or might not have an input speed sensor, if it does not it absolutely needs to have the VSS to calculate the slip. Please record a log of it driving normal from a stop up to steady highway speed and then stopping and send it over so that I can look and make sure the issue in indeed internal.

What parameters would you need to see? That way I can make sure I'm logging the right ones.

    • Engine RPM
    • Input Speed RPM (might or might not have it)
    • Output speed RPM (or VSS if OSS RPM is not listed)
    • TPS
    • TCC Slip in RPM
    • Fluid Temperature
    • Gear commanded
    • TCC Enable solenoid (ON/OFF)
    • TCC PWM solenoid duty cycle %
    • Pressure Control Solenoid Command (% or amperage)
    • MAF in G/S

Good thing you shared the log, this is not an internal transmsision issue like usual, the problem is the command. For some reason the computer is not commanding lock-up except for three times in your recording. Between 10:59:27 and 10:59:40, between 10:59:43 and 10:59:53 and lastly between 11:00:41 and 11:00:56. I am a transmission specialist not a tuning specialist so I can't say what is wrong i your tune causing that, but it is definitely a command issue, hopefully someone else will be able to help you resolve that. To my uneducated eye it seems as if the load is calculated improperly or the lock is set to apply only under super light load.

Thanks for taking a look. I to feel its a tune problem to, hopefully some one that has experience with the 13 wire trans on a T42 controller can help.

I forgot to mention that the PID you need to look at is the one called "Trans Shift Solenoid Pressure Mode". When it reads ON at the end it locks fine, but when it reads OFF then of course it does not lock. The other PID in % is just for the apply pressure regulation but it does not do anything unless the ON/OFF solenoid is first turned ON.
