When I tried to stand alone scan the 2nd car,a 98 Camaro,I would hit the record button and after a few secs it would flash error.
I am assuming it has something to do with clear last car stuff maybe.

yes thats what it has to do with...when going to a different car you must run through the configuration procedure since its locked to each individual car's VIN & OS
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

to get so you can configure your standalone datalogging for the new vehcile just connect to it in the scanner and then it will pull up the appropriate parameters..then set up your data logging and write the new config to the MPVI and you are set
