    Ea888 dtc p003c p0029

    Hi,

I have some problems with my EA888 Gen3 Tune and hope someone can help me.
I've tried different changes over the last few days but I keep getting the same DTCs.
The DTCs come while I'm accelerating. Always as soon as the supercharger generates pressure. Usually between 2500-3500 rpm.
The engine goes directly into emergency mode.
Today I tried again to reduce the torque AT MT Max torque limited to 380Nm, unfortunately without success.

P003C intake camshaft profile control ->on all cylinders
P0029 exaust camshaft profile control -> on all cylinders

    Do you have any ideas?

    greetings Tim

What software you pulling those DTCs with? I'm not showing P003C or P0029 as a possible DTC for this file.

Currently with an ELM327. I will read it out today with VCDS. Other faults may be detected here.

Yes, VCDS will be best as it will be able to see the VAG specific codes, as well as other info which helps narrow down the exact cause of the fault.

I was just able to try it out again. The DTCs are much better displayed via vcds you are right.
I suspect the feedback from the camshaft phasing unit. The signal will be missing from the ECU.
or is it also possible that the faults are caused by the P1388?
this was also the first mistake after the time that was discarded at 16:34:02
I have no problems in Eco mode. The faults only occur under load.

Yeah, the first code is a MON monitor code, and when those trip, it resets the ECU and throws the other 2 codes as a side effect.

It's a torque monitor code, exceeded a threshold. I'm out of town at the moment so I can't open or see the file, but it's most likely a 1x7 table called IP_TQI_REF_MAX_MON. Have seen this before on other OSs.

Thank you, I will look for it. I'll activate the Advanced section and search for it under the throttle valve or the torque values.

Correction to my last.... I can't recall of HPT has these defined, but check/increase these. One is torque monitor, 2 are fuel flow monitors.

Hi, thanks for the screenshots. unfortunately I can't find the tables you sent me.
Is there a way that I can display the tables with all the information more easily?

I have adjusted the values a little on these maps. The 29692 was previously set to 1, which seemed a bit strange to me.

    UPDATE:
    Unfortunately without improvement

they are probably not defined in hpt software. I can add via user defined parameters next week when I'm back home and have my mpvi2

Seems to have worked. I can build on that. Thank you very much.
I now have other errors, will probably still be due to the last settings of the knock sensors.
I am currently running ROZ98. I'll try again with ROZ102.

Those 2 codes are part of the pre ignition detection/protection system. It's probably exceeding noise threshold in the "pre" knock window. This could be actual PI, or perhaps a built motor, or motor with noisey motor mounts and the knock gain tables haven't been adjusted accordingly.

Before that I still had RON98 in the tank. Now that I've added RON100, it's been much better. The engine has been completely rebuilt and reinforced. Different connecting rods and pistons.
The head has also had some work done to the channels.
That's why I opted for HPT, because I didn't want standard software, but wanted to make the settings myself.
I have adjusted the knock-window settings again a little. At the moment it draws almost no ignition on mixed fuel ROZ98/100.

With a built motor, what you should really do IMO is tune the knock sensor gains, both the normal and pre-window tables. Spark -> Knock Sensors -> Knock Sensor Gain

Easiest way to do this is to log Noise Level (and again there is the normal and Pre window parameter). It should be around 0.5V at idle and and 1.0V at 6000rpm. You can see in the VCDS snapshops above that your NL_PRE (noise level, pre window) is around 1.6-2.1V when it's set off at 5850rpm.

Looking at VCM Scanner, I think these only have the normal knock window NL values loggable, not the pre window (which is what you really need here, but ideally you'd check/tweak both). VCDS might be your best bet, or simos tools, which can log all of these things at a much faster rate.
