    Newbie questeion..

have the mpvi 2, and have used it a bit, saved some tunes, did some changes and saved them, haven t used it for quite sometime, wanted to change fan temps on my C5, I did a read and saved it, closed everything, then opened up and found the one i just did, opened it up and made the temp changes and turned key on, plugged in the tuner to laptop. waited for a bit, hit write and waited until was complete, closed it, waited another 15 seconds, unplugged, key off, then opened the file to be sure it was good, nothing changed, it didn t save my changes. My question is did i miss something, do something wrong ?
    any advice would be appreciated
    thanks Al

If the write completed whatever file you wrote to the ecm is what is in the ecm.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

why would you need to read after writing?

It will write whatever changes you have made in the open file that you are writing from (I think, I always save the file before writing). But you have to save the file before closing it. So, the file you opened isn't necessarily the file that is in the ECM. You shouldn't have to reread it, but that is the only way to 100% know that the file change "took".

Edit: Not directed at Bill of course.

If it says completed, it took.

With that said, not all applications allow reading of the file that is currently in the ecm. More and more newer vehicles, in particular, cannot be read natively and we provide a stock file. With that said the C5 corvette whatever you read is what was in the ecm.

Having to reread the ecm is rarely suggest as anything more than a proof of concept tbh.

As confused as some newbies are, I'm not sure that I would trust that they are writing the edited file they think they are writing. And even I get confused when I go back to my tune after being away from it for an extended period of time. Of course, I don't plan on tuning anything new enough to not be able to read.
