    E40 Vin change not working

I have a E40 in a LS Swap Colorado. I changed the Vin and paid for both Vin numbers. The one that came with the E40 ECM and the Colorado Vin number. I changed the Vin no problem from the E40 to the Colorado Vin. Now I want to change it back. I go thought all the steps but it never changes back.

    Steps I followed:

With this vehicle's tune file open in VCM Editor, select Edit > Change VIN Wizard in the menu bar. The Change VIN Wizard appears.

    4. Enter the new VIN and click Commit.
    5. Wait 15 seconds after VIN changes have completed.
    6. Turn Ignition off for 30 seconds.
    7. Turn Ignition on for 30 seconds.
    8. Turn Ignition off for 30 seconds.
    9. Turn Ignition on for 30 seconds.

    The Vin never updates

Change the vin using the wizard, save the file, do a write entire.

You are going to have to give more to go on. Post the as read file and the new file or screen shots of what it does or something.

With this vehicle's tune file open in VCM Editor, I select Edit > Change VIN Wizard in the menu bar. The Change VIN Wizard appears.
I Enter the VIN and click Commit. its say Vin changed completed.
I Wait 15 seconds after VIN changes have completed.
Then Turn key off for 30 seconds.
Then Turn key on for 30 seconds.
Then Turn key off for 30 seconds.
Then Turn key on for 30 seconds.
Then I turn key off and wait a few seconds then turn it back on and check if Vin changed. This has always worked but not this time. I get no error or anything that says that it failed. I also tried saving the file and write entire after completing all steps. It still shows that the old Vin is still loaded.

Nowhere in there do you do a "write entire" to the vehicle.

You have to do a write entire to the vehicle. Then read the file BACK OUT of the vehicle and check the VIN. No where in your post do you say you do either of those 2 steps.

Swap the VIN using the vin wizard. Write entire to the vehicle. Close your tune file. Turn ignition off then back on. Click "flash" then "read vehicle" then "gather info". The new VIN should show up.

With the E40, I have had to change the VIN through the VCM scanner, not the VCM editor. Weird

I did not know VCM scanner could change the Vin. I'm at work until 7:30 pm. I look into using the scanner when I get home tonight.

STAGEUP, I do not see anyway to change the Vin with the VCM scanner.

edcmat-l1, I will run though it again and see if it will change.

I tried again last night still will not change the Vin. I have a few Vin numbers for the E40 so I tried them to. It still will not change.

If you're interested shoot me a PM. Ship it to me and I'll try it on the bench. Won't charge you anything just cover shipping both ways.

I did find something strange today while trying to change the Vin. I saved the file as previous posted, but the tune file shows old Vin when the write dialog is shown, but the change Vin wizard show correct Vin. See attachments when i open the file the change Vin screen show the Vin as the correct Vin is already in there, but the write file screen show the old Vin still present. I already followed the change Vin instructions to change and save file but it never really saved it.
