    2018 Sportwagen 1.8t EPC light

    Hello Guys,

I have a tune that was built for this 1.8t sportswagon. It has the SIMOS ECU and I am having a problem with the EPC light past 5800 rpm it keeps coming on and killing the throttle. Any help would be appreciated. The car does very well. I have not messed with too much of the Camshaft stuff yet.

Torque Model -> Monitoring -> "Reference" (ECM: 29541) is pretty typical for causing this sort of limit. Try setting that whole map to a high value like 600 or so and see if it helps. When you scan the car after it closes the throttle and the EPC light comes on, do you have the code number?

Need to get all the torque limiters out of the way and then use the driver demand tables to request enough torque to get high up on the torque to aircharge tables. Then you can limit boost by either the maximum pressure ratio map, or the throttle inlet pressure map. Which ever one you choose, set the other to a slightly higher value as a safeguard.

That sounds about right. I do not get a code number. I did have it one time start misfiring. I am sure it hit some sort of high Limitation table causing it to do that. Pretty common in the BMW world. German stuff. LOL

I will give this a go and see where I end up. Car seems to do very well. Has much lower end torque and holds the boost a little longer giving it that extra pep in the step instead of falling on its face. Appreciate the information. I will post a log here. I have really not messed with ignition timing at all. Seems to be good. Looks like on 91 pump I might even be able to give it a bit more. I hate that the Logging channels are not there at all for this platform through HP tuners. Well at least from what I am trying to log.

check out simos tools, it can log a lot more, and give you specific DTC/code information to help troubleshoot. You're on one of the most common box code/definitions which means lots of resources are already available for it.

So still throwing EPC light. It seems to happen when the throttle is pressed to the button and only when it goes to WOT close to redline every time. Never lower in the rpm range. Only when RPM is above 6200 rpm. Very interesting.

Going to need to use something like VCDS or OBD11 to try and pull the specific error code from the ECU. Or like mentioned above, use SimosTools for logging and code reading.

The car does throw codes. They are always cylinder misfire 2 and 3. With the occasional random cylinder misfire code being throw.
