    Starter file for 10r80 tuning

    Merry Christmas all.

A little "gift" if you will. This is a very basic transmission only starter tune, built off a 20 F150 3.5EB.

This is transmission only. If your just an average Joe who wants to get rid of skip shifting and have a transmission that behaves how it should have from Ford, this is the file for you. If your looking for a crazy snappy performance transmission set up, this isn't for you.

Take the shift scheduling and apply it to your file. Tune the TCC to your liking, I personally like the Ford TCC tuning as is when combined with my updated upshift scheduling.

I'm pretty confident that the upshift scheduling can't get much better for a daily driver, been tweaking this for a couple years now. Works for 99 percent of daily driver type people. Downshifting is still fairly conservative down low and basically stock under heavier loads.

No, this is not an invitation to take a look at your tune for free and apply some changes. This is just for those getting started who need some direction. If you want more, you gotta pay to play. Lol

    Enjoy

Attachment seams to be gone. Do you happen to have it to upload or a 23+ stock ecoboost file I can look at?

I took down my freebie files as I've made so many changes to them they were outdated.

i am still rocking the file you had setup a while back. There are 2 things I have been struggling with but overall no complaint and its been great

    - There is large delay in the 1-2 shift at moderate/average throttle and i cannot figure out how to get rid of it. it seems like its pulling power back for some kind of torque limit situation. At heavy/full throttle it does not do it.
    - There is some abnormal 7-8-9-10 shifting going on, it will bounce around. I spaced the 7-8-9-10 up and downshifts out a little bit and it seemed to take care of it.

Thanks for the info. I?ve changed quite a bit since giving you that file. Completely different downshift schedules.

1-2 is a new complaint though. Usually part throttle delay can be adjusted with the inertia base table. Unless your CDF bushing is slipping. Maybe put that back to stock and see what it does. Can?t remember if I changed that in your file or not.

If you?re still on original trans, delayed part throttle shifts are a symptom of CDF bushing slippage just so ya know.

Thanks. I was afraid you would say that to be honest. 130k on the stock trans, Shifts great at moderate to WOT its just lower throttle input it shifts slow only 1-2 everything else is perfect. I had assumed a long time ago I was going to be stuck rebuilding this unit.

Yeah. 1 of 3 10r80 vehicles I have owned have had the issue. 2 went past 100k with no issues. My 2020 lost it at only 40k. All were serviced every 25-30k. All were tuned at some point by either a big name company or myself.

No tuning can fix the mechanical issues. I have learned since starting on these that everyone tunes a little differently. My 2020 with a reman trans with all the updated stuff shifts smoothly and predictably even on stock tuning. I can get away with only changing the shift scheduling and torque converter stuff to have a perfect trans.

Other times, I may have to dig into stroke pressure adders, engagement adders, ramp times, and inertia settings before I?m satisfied. But if your customer is running the latest greatest firmware update from Ford, 75 percent of what can be messed with in HP Tuners can be left alone on a stock vehicle.

Tuning a super low mileage 2018 Mustang GT later this week. Customer complaint is rough and delayed shifting. Will find out quickly if it?s a tuning concern or a mechanical issue.
