New here - simple question (sure its a longer answer)

So very new .. to the point i haven't even gotten my hardware delivered yet.
Most of what is planned is simply enough on the primary vehicle.

However a question related to a second 2012 Silverado Duramax. (LML)

Quite some time back i had issues and had all the emissions and DEF tuned out and removed. All taken care of with a local shop. All in all the work/tune was done based solely on those factors. (and best i remember done with a small tablet type of device) And i've had zero issues with the tune.

But in buying this for the new car. It makes me wonder about the potential to get that or a (similar) tune backed up into a format that if i ever needed to reflash it myself it could. Even if that meant taking it to someone who knows what they are doing to have the tune supplied to me for that purpose.

    Just some thoughts

The LML is unreadable with HPT, and the tune you get when you read one out is a bone stock tune file.

To get what you are looking for, there are two options for you.
    1) The hard way.... To get your EXACT tune, you would need to find someone with a bench rig, and get them open the ECM and read out the tune file. This file is not compatible with HPT, so you would have to open it with another software, and find a way of getting those parameters in to the HPT file with User Defined Parameters.
    2) Find someone willing to sell you an unlocked file that meets your needs. It won't be exactly like the one you currently have, but it would be something you could use to create your own tune.

Sounds like #2 is the way to go. Its secondary to getting the other one tuned (so it was maybe i get lucky somewhere in there).

I should add i'm completely not opposed to buying a turn from a reputable source that accomplishes the same thing as the tune in there now. My concern is the thought i having the have dealer working down and them flashing and breaking it

If i had the ability to reflash it with that same turn if things take that wrong turn.

Its about as base as you can get with all the emissions and DEF deleted. The idea was basic longevity with those items removed.

Much appreciated on the answer btw.
