    bench programming

i have bought some bench harnesses for tcms and i have been programming them on my work bench. my question is can i just save a stock file lets say for a 2015 silverado tcm and just flash it to my new blank tcm or do i need to pull the files from my old tcm and write it to my new tcm with each individual vehicle that i work on

I don't do what your asking about, but I believe you need to start with a GM flash first as the .HPT file will not have everything GM puts in the file. This needs to be done with hardware/software other than HPT as far as I know currently. Maybe one of the pros will stop in for a little insite.

There are way too many individual PCM part numbers and operating systems to consider using a "one size fits all" TCM file. In other words, no you can't. It's best to read out the TCM file you're going to work with or have an MDI2 on hand to do an initial GM flash based on the PCM year/make/model and operating system.

If you're considering doing this professionally you absolutely need an MDI2 so you can start with a factory fresh calibration. Anything less in my opinion lacks professionalism.
