Exactly why cant the GPEC 5 currently be unlocked?

    Hi guys,
ive read a number of posts about GPEC 5...that it cannot currently be unlocked.

Given the earlier GPEC boards have been unlocked, what is so special about this version? Why cant it be unlocked exactly?

There are a large number of Chrysler cars now that use it, surely the time has come for progress to be made here?

Ive got a RAM 1500 with GPEC 5...i cant even put a full performance exhaust on it because they cant bloody dyno tune the car. That really pisses me off to be honest!!!

At SEMA I talked with someone who indicated that GPEC5 would be unlocked by now. I'm assuming that information is incorrect, or we were mistaken about the exact PCM, but I still hold out a little hope.

To the OP, GPEC5 is a new implementation of the security system in the PCM. To be able to tune that PCM, the security must be bypassed. This relies on a security vulnerability being present in the security system of the ECU and being able to be exploited. In the past things were often quite easy and after than even quite sophisticated attacks had to be used to gain access to the PCM. Things like glitching the PCM with precise timing and then relying on that to weaken the generation of a random number that you still had to brute force. I'm guessing for the GPEC5 someone sat down and analyzed all the attack methods and closed the doors. Will it be cracked? It's possible it never will be.

Sorry, I cannot remember who I spoke to. Now I see the information was correct and the GPEC5 unlock is available.

Your page gives information showing the '2022-2024 Jeep Wrangler 3.6L' is supported. Is the unlock available for the 2.0T engine as well? I would not have thought that PCM unlock would be any different - it is PCM binary not complete yet?

Yes, because we just released support for some GPEC5 applications last week.

We currently do not support the 2.0t applications.

Can the PCM be unlocked in advance of support? And also can the 8HP transmission be programmed?

I can log the transmission. It needs logging for the Shift Type and Shift Pattern because there's no logging of Driver Type or Shift Situation or Aggression so it is not really possible to know what tables are in use.

Shift pattern need not be logged

Why can’t you log clutch shift type?

Clutch shift type is not available to log. I have 'Trans Drive Mode', which is 'Normal' for all situations. Nothing else than might help.

Does this mean adding a supercharger to my 22 Gladiator is now an option?
