    VCM Scanner Differences

Just wanted to confirm if anyone has faced these issues before.

Vehicle is throwing a code for Bank 1 Exhaust Camshaft, though while checking actual cam angles in scanner it shows Bank 2 seems to be out. Is the scanner misinterpreting the PIDs?

Damn, that's off a lot. I'd suspect the position plates have moved. Forgot the actual name but they're just pressed on and can/will move. I have one off ~1.5 deg and I thought that was bad...
Apparently you can simply tap it back and there are marks showing where it goes. I would assume one would want to pin it, screw, or peen them into place after that. You know, like MB should've done if some bean counter hadn't screwed us.

Yes I completely agree with you. I have checked all other sensors and VTC solenoids and that is the problem I'm facing.

Although my post was meant towards HP Tuners scanner not aligning with what's actually going on.

Bank 1 on Mercedes is on the left hand side standing in front of the engine which is what the DTC code states although looking at the actual cam timing in HP Tuners, it's showing Bank 2 as the problem. It is very misleading and was wondering if anyone else has experienced any mismatches in bank to bank readings from HP Tuners. Especially on this platform.

Oic now. I was too focused on how far the two numbers are off.

I suppose maybe HP has banks 1 & 2 switched? If so, maybe you're the first to notice. I guess you could use Xentry to check it, which I'm sure has which side is what figured out.
Maybe I'll check mine too, just to see. If I do I'll post.

Yes unfortunately this is the only way to test it. If I get the time as well, I will unplug one of the sensors and take a scan with HP Tuners and then another tool to see if it follows suit.

Unplugging sounds like a better/easier idea. Please post results because I'm rather curious now.

I'm also curious if you're going to fix the position plates? I'd dread pulling the valve covers, but if you do I was hoping you could take pix of how you lock the plates. I would need to see mine before deciding how to do it, but I most certainly would not remove the cams.
    Best of luck to you!
