MPVI Pro reads and writes, but affects gauges and won't scan (mostly on Gen 4 LS)

I have a MPVI Pro, I've had 10 years. I am very partial to it as it has a lot of unlimited licenses on it.

It will read and write mostly without issue, but lately it has been glitching when scanning (seems like it is CANBUS vehicles only), 99-06 do OK.

Today we tested it and found when you plug in the OBD cable and MPVI (no cable to the laptop at all, it upsets the canbus on gen 4s (no wot downshift, MPH jumping around, random stabilitrack codes, etc) Once the cable is unplugged, the vehicle acts normally again. Gen 3 LS seems to be much better and writing Gen 4 is pretty good as well.

    Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply. I did that as well and same issue. (have another mpvi 1 pretty much new in box).

Can you also, talk me off of the trade it in for a MPVI 3 cliff? I have all unlimited gen 3 and gen 4 trucks and cars, so can't be without it long and really don't want to lose the MPVI 1.

    Thanks again

We usually turnaround upgrades the same day they are received, so its just a matter of how much you want to spend on shipping really. Also I believe the upgrade comes with 4 or 6 free credits iirc just for upgrading.

Unfortunately when you do the upgrade does require you forfeit your old device.

If I do that AND my mpvi 2 as I have been using that for newer stuff at least keep the 2 empty?

    UPDATE:

Tuned 3 gen 3 cars today with 0 issues. The Gen 4 glitched slightly, but the Gen 3s did perfectly. What happens with the gen 4 when scanning is the ABS, TCS lights, etc flash. the reading and writing work without issue.

    Very odd
