What does the Calculated tire box represent.

    Sorry I wasn't more specific.
When I put in 24.5 for my tire size and 3.33 it came back with a
    28.25 Calculated Tire
What does the Calculated tire box mean.

The unsquished tire height is 26 inches so I'm pretty sure thats not what the value is.

    Thanks for all the responses

The actual tire height after the actual vehicle load is place on the tire, it will sqish down to a certain size. It is best if you measure it for your application.

    That can't be right?
    since the number gets larger.

    my tires are 295 35 18
and the calculator measured them at 26.1
I physicaly measured them at 26.25 and the squish a 24.5

The calculated tire number changes with rear end changes.
because when I put in 3.33 for my dana rearend from the 3.45 it had for stock
The calculated tire number moved from 28.24 to 28.25

I noticed that a lot of users screen shots did not have what I'm talking about.

maybe this is a 04 GTO thing or something they added for the Ausi based cars.

Here's what I came up with for a 3.33 gear and your 24.5" tire.

    VSS PPM = 46600.7
    Trans Rev/Mile = 2741.2

Trans shift point multiplier = 0.95386452

I pulled the whole motor trans and PCM, and put it in my 66 nova, that has a 90's corvette rearend DANA 44 it has a 3.33 rearend. I'm going to be changing to something larger in the near future, maybe a 4.10 if the ring will fit in the case.

Won't the tire height change depending on how wide a wheel you stretch it over ????

    Question

    TTT on this question...
I've got a 2000 Sonoma that I just started playing with HPT on. I noticed the same box "Calculated Tire". IT seems to always be a bit larger than the current tire size that you input. It was that way for my stock tire size and for the measurement of the 32's I have on there now.

Just wondering if it's something I need to worry about or if it's just a point of reference?

    Thanks!

It's a "sanity check" to make sure you are inputting realistic values if you are doing it manually.

why would my "calculated gear" be different then the actual gears in the car...

i believe he is talking about this, this is a stock 98 bin and it shows the calc. gear as 3.29 but stock gtp gears are 2.93

The final gear ratio is 3.29/1.121(drive sprocket ratio)=2.93

I would assume that it is the size of the tire the PCM thinks the tire is when rolling in the 1:1 gear and uses that in the calculation or a check for mph.

If someone wants to test this get a radar gun and check the cars % error of speed to the gun vs scan. Then change the size of the tire and retest. When doing this I would also scan for calculated gear ratio and see if that changes.
