    2 Bar upgrade OS

If I install the 2 Bar upgrade OS do I need a MAF that outputs the signal relative to 2 Bar also, or does the PID just rescale the existing output from the MAF?

2 Bar is speed density only meaning no maf.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

So if I use 2 bar SD, does that mean the air flows are calculated and the MAF measurement is ignored?

Now I'm confused. You mean that I should physically remove the MAF?

If that is the case, does it do anything at all?

Once you fail the maf I don't believe it gives a reading at all.

You will still get MAF Hz and MAF Airflow but the PCM ignores it if the MAF is failed (DTC P0103 shows up with the scanner).

    Will I need a 2 bar MAP?

As the title says, to use the 2 bar SD will I need to replace my esisting MAP with a 2 bar unit?

This time you said MAP. You meant MAF right?

NO, I meant MAP. I think I got my question answered about the MAF not functioning under speed density (SD) but in reading the info about the 2 bar SD operating system it calls for a 2 bar MAP. The stock on is only a 1 bar MAP, so I have ordered one from on-line.

Does anybody have the part # for the 3 bar map to replace my stock one?

  16. #16
I have the number for the 2bar map sensor, and its Chevy part number 12580698. It is used on the supercharged Cobalt, and is a direct fit replacement for the one bar unit on the LS-2. It is what I am using on my 2006 Corvette turbo coupe. I know its not 3bar, but I hope that helps.
