Some (smarter than me) electronics wizard is making up a voltage converter circuit to (hopefully) make it more stable and usable.
He figured out that the voltage levels are wrong on some combinations of computer and vehicle. It was all a bit over my head.

Another (very clever guy) has modified the code to display system readiness tests and history data for trouble codes.

Put both of these together and you have an almost free OBDII trouble code reader. I guess it'll cost a few bucks for the diodes in the "interface" cable.
