Just read this little factoid over on the corvetteforum and was wondering if this is fact or rumor, is GM locking the ECM with the '08 vette update?

Not to my knowledge, we haven't had any customers contact us regarding it yet at least which is a good sign.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
A wise man once said "google it"
Good reason to stay away from the Chevy dealer if there is any truth to this.
Chris thinks it might just be a bug.

A lot of people with warranties on here? I think my car lasted 200 miles before I accepted the fact my dealership would probably laugh me out the door on a drivetrain service item.
Granted they did replace one of my run flats for free when the local goodyear place couldn't warranty it. I was impressed.
Here is an update (see links) from the thread on corvetteforum. Looks like it might be true.

Yay, GM! Why does this not surprise me?
sounds like something got messed up on gm's end of it, if they are saying a tech 2 will not program them
i work at a gmc/chevrolet/cadillac/buick/pontiac dealer and we re-program the newer truck ecm's almost daily and have not ran into any issues yet
