Disable VATS for Aftermarket Remote Start?

I wanted to get a remote start installed in my 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. They say they'd need an extra "key" so that it will start properly due to the built-in factory alarm and VATS key.

Can I turn off the VATS function for the truck to bypass the need for that, or not?

I did one on my 05 2500hd and was able to use a vats bypass that learned the resistance of the key and was triggered on by the remote start itself. but did not need an extra key


edit i used an audiovox as-gm4. works on passlock 1 and 2 I belive yours is a 2

you can turn off the vats

Supposedly, the factory alarm will still work. I was just concerned about whether or not the remote start will indeed work if the VATS part of it is turned off. Looks like it will, so that's great news.
