    BASIC question about AFR

    Is 14.5 leaner or richer than 14.4?

    I have always thought that the 14 part was Air and the 4 part was fuel(14/4)
    I always thought that if you bump 14.4 up to 14.5 you are adding fuel.

    I just need a yes youre right or yes, you're wrong.

    14.5 is leaner than 14.4
    Air-fuel ratio

    the higher the leaner.... air to fuel ie 14.7:1
    2001 3.8 v6 camaro, T5, ford 42lb green top injectors, grand national .63 a/r turbo. 8psi. stock motor, ngk tr6 plugs (one step colder) 91 octane.

    2001 4.3 zr2 s10. daily driver, 31" tires, 4x4, cat! and exhaust. looking for mpg.

    You're just mixed up a little.

    When you say 14 part air, 4 fuel, it's actually 14.4:1 AFR.

    14.4 air to 1 fuel, more air the leaner, the less air richer, when comparing to 14.7
