I wouldn't call me a "Convert". It is more like "Kicking and Screaming". :-/

This looks like a cool idea. How do I know if my laptop has bluetooth? I know it does wireless G.I have a pocket pc (2003), Samsung i700. I am also a customer. I would love such software.
Please do us all a favor and make it a bluetooth device. Very few (if none) have serial. Many don't have CF but have SD, but all can support bluetooth through SD/CF/ or internal.
Even better: is that you could use the Socket bluetooth Serial adapter, reusing your current hardware.http://www.socketcom.com/product/CS0400-479.asp

Are you guys sure about using the Pocket PC?
I was looking for a Pocket PC and I discovered something interesting. At CompUSA they offer 20 types of Palms but only 5 types of Pocket PCs. Best buy has 8 Palms and 3 PPC. Circuit City has 8 palms and only 1 PPC. For a technology that was suppose to be even with Palm two years ago, it would seem they are lossing ground. At this rate, in another year, there may be no more manufacturers offering PPCs. The only main stream company making PPCs in HP. Palm, Sony, Handspring, Garmin, and many cellular companies are using Palm.
Someone was talking about PPCs not having seriel connections. I have one for my palm. I use it to hook to a GPS. The Palm could hook right to the standard cable.
I know I am in the minority here but I would hate to see HP Tuners work with a technology which might just not make it. These retailers offer what sell and obviously, the Palms are selling and the Pocket PCs are not. Just some food for thought.

We have not made a choice on either model as of yet.
I think one of the biggest factors will be which model has enough power, graphics capabilities and isn't a huge PITA on the developer to make the new software for it.
We got this guy Not Sure, ...
I watch video clips on my PPC. I've said it before, it supports Excel and a whole host of other Windows and MS software. The graphics are awesome, speed is excellent. I have no complaints. Not even about software support. And, I'd be happy to beta test for you...lol
I have Word, Excel, Power Point, and even Access on my Palm. I have never seen Access on a Pocket PC, but it might have it. I can surf the net using my cell phone as well as read maps with real time data from a GPS.
Some Facts:
91% of Fortune 1000 companies with a handheld standard have selected the Palm OS platform for their standards list. (3) These findings are consistent with other independent research showing that 83% of corporations that plan to support mobile devices will support Palm-based handhelds. (4)
Sourse:
Idependent surveys conducted by
(3) Winn Technology Group, Inc. 2002. R
(4) Jupiter Metrics Executive Survey, September 2001.
Market Share:
Palm: Greater than 72% worldwide
Pocket PC: Less than 15% worldwide
Just some more food for thought.

Pocket PC ... Palm was great in its hayday but PPC is more versatile and a better all around platform IMHO .... (plus not as proprietary as palm)
I've gotta 400mhz XScale PPC and sucker is awesome... lemme know if you wanna have a looksee

BOTH cars HP Tuners Tuned
PPC, you can pick up a DELL Axim for a "song" now a days
I have both and definitely would have to say PPC is the way to go. Much more processing power and capabilities.

Off to find the post that 1.5 and WB have been released. Yeah, right!

I'm pretty sure Access is available on the PocketPC, but it's much more limited than the other pda Office programs. I like the idea of a PocketPC program, but it would have to be less expensive than the current version, otherwise I'll keep using my current laptop or upgrade to a tablet pc (OQO, Sony, Fujitsu) to mount on my steering wheel. My boss has a pda with Linux on it. It has great graphics, which we'll need to run HPTuners. I can find out more about it tomorrow if anyone is interested.
...and my preference for PDA's is Dell. I hate Toshiba! Anyone want a e740? I'll sell it cheap!

Pocket PC ... it's much more powerful than the PalmOS (IMHO)
It would probably be easier for you, also since you're going from a Windows platform to another "Windows" platform.
Besides, it's only a matter of time until Microshaft puts Palm out of business. Anyone here still using Lotus 1-2-3? ;D
Pocket PC, there is another scanning application my buddy at work got for his Dodge Dakota which using Pocket PC, and he swears by it. I'll try to get the link and post it here, so you guys can take a look.
BTW - I'm probably biased, as I own a Dell Axim.
PalmOS
I use a Tungsten T5
How many of you guys currently own PDA's? I am interested in using this NOW. Not when I "maybe" buy a PDA in the future.

I've used both and my vote defiantly goes to Pocket PC.
