    need help. preparing 'VCM failed'

    im having a customer with 2001 corvette and when reading VCM it fail at step4 (preparing VCM). Boot loader download Request timed out.. i also tried untick high speed and still getting the same problem. BUT the scanner is working fine. any HELP please.

    Battery voltage issue is the most common reason for this error.
    It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Sir the battery is fulley charged and i also double checked and used a charger but still the same error is coming.

    aftermarket accessory on the same bus as the pcm would cause this issue as well.
    It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Sir i have disconnected any aftermarket electronic and accessories in the car, still getting the same error.
    what is bus?

    i get the same thing but says UNKNOWN ERROR 31 on erasing VCM!

    This happened to me this evening. Originally thought that it was due to a low battery, but still would not flash with battery charger connected. Tried to do a write entire and ended up erasing the entire ECM and would not recover.

    I found that when writing to the ECM I would lose my USB connection by watching it in the device manager. Ended up replacing the USB cable with another and flashed back to the original stock tune.


    Now to start over again with patching...

    on these corvettes i always remove the "star" data line connector under the pass floor panel and jump the dlc pin to the pcm terminal pin,, just a 4" jumper wire works perfect, then no other modules can interfere with the data transfer
