    Changing OS?

Could someone who wanted to run a "stripper"
speed density tune on a US domestic vehicle
("off road", naturally) get ahold of something like
one of the Holden SD .bins, substitute the factory-
proper data table by table, and shove that into the
    PCM?

Seems like it "should" be possible, but supported
might well be another matter. But since the "Pro"
version was at one time said to allow OS editing,
    maybe there is a way?

To what degree can common PCM hardware go
    "OS shopping"?

    Re: Changing OS?

OS editing means opening your bin in say Winhex or whatever hex editor you prefer, make your changes, then calculate new checksums,

then you can use pro version to write your changes to the pcm.

As for what OS can be used on which pcm, you will need to crossreference that with part numbers and hardware versions.

    for example

os number 9381344 will work in 99-00 north american f bodies as well as corvette and the same model year holdens.

os number 12202088 covers same models as above for years 01-02
There is no replacement for displacement?&&sure there is, its called a Blower!

Or your cable would need to support a Holden or GTs and then you can flash till your heart is content

    Re: Changing OS?

The vehicle I would want to flash is one I already
have licensed. I just would like to try out a more
aggressive, less encumbered OS (and the Holden
300kW SD one is what comes to mind).

Whether the different OS would run properly in an
F-body is one of my questions. How to get the new
OS passed through my HPTuners version is another.
I would rather not relive the '80s and hex editing,
even if I knew what to edit.

The base code functionality is the same for all OS. The Holden GTS calibration is nothing special, disconnect your MAF and tune the VE and spark tables, thats it.

Also, remember the GTS cal is designed for the Calloway C4B engine (bigger cylinder heads and revised camshaft). The other beauty of the Holden cals is that very little of the torque management is actually used due to Holden running cable throttle, also a lot of the emissons stuff eg. misfire tests are not required and hence do not run.

The Holden OS's/calibrations will not run in F/Y bodies due to various platform specific options such as speedo, cluster control various sensor/gauge differences, engine accesories such as alternator, AC compressor, input/output pin options etc.
