hey, I'm new to using hp tuners, how do I read the horsepower? thanks

ehh, you need a dyno to do that
dang, I thought this software could tell you, Isn't horsepower like Spead divided by something?
Yes, horsepower is generally found from an equation; HP = (TORQUE x RPM) / 5252.
However, as stated above, you need a dyno to accurately measure torque.
With that said, there are software programs out there that will estimate horsepower and torque based on acceleration vs drag. This data can be gathered from HPT or any OBD2 logging device.
However, one should note that they are not very repeatable, and not very accurate.

well, I don't need a super accurate reading, I would like to avoid the fee of using a dyno if possible
Get your 1/4 mile time, then pull into a truck weight station along a local highway. Get the weight of your car with you in it. Go on line and search for a HP calculator, you will get a pretty accurate # if you have the info mentioned above.
Other than that you are on a dyno imo to get your #'s
okay, can hp tuners estimate the 1/4 mile time? I already know how much the car weighs with me in it. I would need the torque and rpm as well?
Not that Im aware of. Ive seen those on-board GPS units that calculate HP and 1/4 mile though. I had the chance to try one a few years ago was within one tenth of what I actually ran. So they do a pretty good job if you ask me.
Oh ok. I'll look into that. Even though GPS are expensive, I'll just buy one, get my hp and 1/4 time, then sell it lol
Try this. I used it on a GTP and a stroker LS1 and it works really well.
