3-1 and 4-2 skip shift

i have heard of this before and i know other competitors which will remain nameless say they reprogram the pcm's for the skip shift. can this really be done and if so what is the correct way to do it.

What type of car are you talking about?

i have a 2001 oldsmobile alero which is supercharged it has the 4T45E.

I have no idea. The only GM cars I have ever seen with skip shift are the LSx cars. They have the skip shift feature and can be programed to lock out certain shifts.

To change your "skipshift" you just have to change your SHIFT SPEED vs. %TPS vs. SHIFT By changing these values, it will allow you to change at what speed (mph) your car will shift. Also, this isn't a "skip-shift"... even though the competitors say it is, I have had their tuning, and all it does is downshit say from 3-2, then 2-1. Your car will do this now if you slowly accel up to about 32mph (light throttle) you should be in third gear if slowly cruising. Now, punch it, and you will experience "skip-shift"....hope this helps ya.

Well, the argument was that Skip shifting performed a release of two simultaneous clutches and time aligned their apply for the exact RPM needed to prevent clutch slip during the engagement on "kickdown" The idea makes sense, but whether or not "competitor" tunes actually do this is unknown.
