I'm really new to all this, so maybe it's something really easy to fix but my tuner wont 'connect' to the program any more...
everything is plugged in from the car to the computer, I turn the key on for the 10 seconds, everything else is off... but when I hit connect on the scanner it says 'No Open Ports'
Thoughts?
I assume you have a free serial port (9 pin) on your laptop?
Make sure there are no other programs running that may tie up that port.
Common offenders include Palm Pilot and UPS (external power supply) software.

My laptop does'nt have a 9 pin on it, so I went to Best Buy, and bought an adapter (USB to 9 pin) and everything worked...
I made a copy of the stock bin.
Had a guy helping me, and we did a small amount of tuning... (Fans !EGR,
!AIR, idle ect. Did some more scanning, few days later did some more scanning, went to scan the other day, and I got the not connected port not open.
wierd?
does your cigarette lighter work? Maybe blown fuse? (cig lighter and OBDII port are on the same circuit)

yes it still works...plug the radar detctor into it every day.
What kind of utilities do you have for that serial gizmo?
Anything that will let you forcibly assign a COM port?
Or see what it thinks it is?
"Plug and Play" sounds swell, but sometimes is to clever
for its (and your) own good.
I've got the same issue. All of a sudden my laptop won't connect to the car at all - with HPTuners, AutoTap, nor LS1-Edit. Both cigarette lighters are working and both the PCM BAT & PCM IGN fuses are OK.
Trying to narrow it down. It was working great the first couple of weeks. Can the ALDL port die? The only software I've added is the minor update provided by Keith in another thread. Perhaps I'll uninstall the update and revert to the release build.
What error message are you receiving when you try to start scanning?
