How many times can you 'flash' the PCM ?

A few years back I think that folks were talking about
a 'limit' , to the number of times that that a PCM could
    be 'flashed' by LS1Edit.

Is there a 'limit' to the number of times that a PCM
can be 'flashed' with HP Tuner ?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Re: How many times can you 'flash' the PCM ?

Flash memories are generally rated at tens of thousands
of write cycles, at environmental extremes. I've flashed
mine 50+ times so far and still truckin'. I have the original
PCM indoors, I've been abusing a spare I got from Valvegod
shortly after my Predator first "hiccuped" (nothing like a
bullet past your head, to get you some religion).

I don't know the actual memory device part number but
if someone does I'd be interested to go pull up the
datasheet on it and see what the ratings are for write
    cycle endurance.

flash used is amd 28f400 or 28f800 or 29f800, same chip used in dishnetwork satellite recievers (lots of jtag info available) so you could essentially desolder from pcm, solder into sat box, use jtag to recover from some nasty battery failure, then put back into your pcm. Any way, thats a little of topic but heres a data sheet for ya jimmy
    http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...docs/21504.pdf

says minimum 1,000,000 program/erase cycles per sector guaranteed
and data retention for 20 years
There is no replacement for displacement?&&sure there is, its called a Blower!
