Yes, particularly the Max Torque Timing table. Very mysterious.

this table is the mean best timing (or timing where maximum torque is "in theory" produced). All of the torque calculations the PCM uses (based on airflow, RPM etc. are refernced to max torque. Then the final torque values is corrected by how much your current timing is away from the max torque timing.
Not something i would go messing with personally. We put it in mostly as a reference (although if you go changing the mechanicals of your engine then a good chance the thoretical MBT should change). I don't know how GM populates this table (before you ask).
I count sheep in hex...
I notice that it seems to work better (for the clarity or
usefulness of the explanation) when we users pose
focused questions and the gurus answer. It's very hard
to write good help docs. Especially when you know the
underlying matter so well that some things just start
to feel obvious.
I'm thinking maybe there would be some value to a
"Helpless document", something that is organized just
like the Help document but consists entirely of open
questions provided by users (who would have to try
and keep to the subject, etc.). The object being to
depopulate that one by detailed answers, as it is
to populate the real Help doc.
Also, if I remember right, transient fuel has nothing either.

very good idea. How we execute it might be a challenge... via the forum?Originally Posted by jimmyblue

Holy crap...that forum would get so big we would never be able to wade through it.

I think it would have to have an "inside man" to work.
I think the forum is maybe too chaotic to do this, unless
there was perhaps a way of "tagging" messages in the
Help forum so the docs-related questions could be
sifted from the "check your cigarette lighter fuse" noise.
Maybe that wouldn't be so bad, like if people who were
serious about the process tagged their inputs with
"Help Docs: {section>section>item}" or whatever. At
least that would be obvious enough to the DPB for
documentation (Designated Poor Bastard) to see amid
the chaff.
how about this:
- we create an email alias like "[email protected]"
- you send emails regarding help file to that
- DPB (me) reads/filters emails and posts questions in a sticky+locked thread, with estimated resolution date, when it has been answered, when new help file has been posted to the web etc.
yeah?

Sounds like that would work.
