I saw that yesterday where DSteck was having the same problem. I had the same problem with the file he posted but it worked fine on my own car, so I'm not sure what's going. Beta is beta I suppose

this will be my first time using this tool so sorry if this is a dumb question.

I was able to import and export everything correctly and decided to use one of the sample files as its close to my cam spec. I will tune using lambda error and have my histogram set up. I was reading an older tutorial from 2012 on using the tool and tuning. I got to this point "Now, go back to VCM Editor and open the ?Engine>Airflow>General>VE Low Altd? table" but I notice my VE low ALTD table has Throttle Position (%) as the X axis, not MAP.

I realize there are no more hooks so based on my understanding this really doesn't matter as I will make my corrections in the BC VE table by copying and pasting from the histogram and then the BC tool takes over?

Don't bother. Request access to the latest beta and you can work with VVE inside avcm editor. It also uses a different algorithm which is hopefully more accurate.

saw that two. I also have already paid for a COS for this vehicle so I can always do that even though I am running a 1 bar map. Would just need to reenable the maf and copy all the data.

E38 when generating VE we select LS3 style correct?

because if you select LS2 style the map points are different boundaries

Post in the thread about the beta exactly what it is or isn't doing and the .hpt file so they can fix it. Are you using the latest beta? They just got most of the bugs worked out a few days ago

can someone confirm this as it seems as you are asking as well.

would that then mean that I couldn't use a LS2 sample file?

Ill have to try the car again when it comes back. The beta was a few weeks old. Everything would "work" however it wasn't doing the whole equation and fuel changes weren't taking effect

Oh, yeah, VVE def wasn't finished back then. They finally "supposedly" got all of the bugs worked out now. I've only used it on one car but it worked great.

Cool thing is it pretty much makes custom OS's obsolete for boost/SD tuning purposes. You can build a VVE "table" into boost just the same you would one that only goes to 100kpa. No custom OS needed.

Nice, ill let you know how it goes

well while waiting for 2.25 I went ahead and messed with the BC tool. Very cool and useful tool for those not wanting to run a COS.

I tuned the VE using LTFT and here is what my VE table looks like. I have to quit for today but will test again later.

WE NEED CONFIRMATION which VE STYLE we should select and is it based on PCM?

LS2 engines came both E40 and later years E38

LS2 VE style is what all CUSTOM OS VE's look like where the Horizontal Boundaries are MAP and Vertical RPM

    on both E40 or E38

it would be nice to know since i always like using going custom operating system for its benefits

I used the LS2 and have a E38. Not sure that is right but seemed to be.

Is there a way of changing the axis points on either BC tool or COS? I ask because on my COS my MAP plots 15,21,27,32,38,44,50,55,61,67,73,79,84,90,96,102,1 08 and BC tool goes 15,21,26,32,38,43,49,54,60,66,71,77,83,88,94,99,10 5. Or does it not matter that much off?

I'm having issues getting the LS2 VE table back into the bluecat tool so I can generate the VE changes to load back into HPT. Anybody have some screen shots on how to do that?

    Thanks.

Explain please what you mean by "getting the LS2 VE table back in the Bluecat tool". You import the coefficients into the tool from your tune. What PCM are you using and what year?

You can use LS2 if you want, just set up your VCM Scanner histogram to what ever X,Y axis values you want. Then copy with labels. Go to BC VE table page and at the bottom will be two input lines...RPM and MAP. Paste the labels you copied from your histogram there. They will now be the same.

Thanks Ed. I've got the histogram set up and a bit of logging c/w. Now i'm trying to get those VE changes into the Bluecat tools VE so it can generate the compatible tables for me to load into HPT. I'm having some troubles with how to get the HPT (VE Low ALT) table into Bluecat.

Why not just get access to the 2.25 beta that has native VVE support? It is much, much easier to use than this.

Got it figured out. Just had to play around with the editor to learn how to export the modded VE table into all the individual tables in the PCM.

My histogram numbers are huge though......like in the -30s -40s and -50s. When I made the changes, my STFTs went way lean. I have to figure out what i'm doing wrong with the histogram logging for STFT-VE.
