Click on post reply to start a new post,
top row of message box is a paperclip, click it,
opens up a choose file box and select and upload file,
when done click on paperclip and select the attachment, it puts it in your post.

At least that is how I do it, lol

Question Licencing problem 2013 e86 ecu silverado 6.6 lml

I FOUND OUT YOU CANT PULL THE STOCK TUNE pulled a stock tune from the repository made the changes i needed to went to write to the viehicle asked to liscence the ecu i spent to credits followed the promts as ive read and watched videos on and instead of it licensing the truck i wa pulled into it licenced the file from the tune repository why idk but im kinda screw gonna request stock run file vin specfic from hpt and try and licenses it again hope that fixes the problem it doesnt even when i go to write to the truck theres no prompt or option to and id like to understand why it licenced the file and not the hardware i was connected to solid stable connection so any support from the community or hp tuners would be helpful because if thats the case with any other tunes i go to write am i gonna have to worry about any other run file i pull from the repository doing that as well

If you go to HPT site, I'm fairly certain it explains the details of licensing. When your a hobbyist and are only tuning a few or less vehicles, you will buy individual credits based on that specific VIN number. The credits are directly attached to a specific VIN/serial number I believe, not the hardware (MPVI) or physical vehicle. (they are also attached to your HPT account) As you found out, if you apply your credits to your original VIN/PCM config. then want to grab another config. file from some other vehicle, you will need to license it (buy credits for it) also in order to load it into the same PCM. The credits you buy will allow you to modify the current config. you license them to as many time as you like, but if you decide to write an entire new/unique config. from a different VIN/Serial number you will need to buy credits for that VIN/Serial number also.
In reality your not buying a license for the vehicle, your buying a license to modify the firmware in it. If it were the other way around, the business model wouldn't work. In theory and practice you would be able to license one vehicle then take the firmware out of it and apply it to as many vehicles as you like.
Some people do learn this the hard way but it will make you plan your steps a little better or you can buy an unlimited package and not worry about it.

Rule#!. You should never write a file to your vehicle that didn't originate from a read from that vehicle. There are a few exceptions to this rule but a new user should adhere to this rule.

And the way HPT licensing works you always have to have a license for the file you are writing to the PCM/ECM and the file that is in the PCM/ECM. Going back to rule #1 that will require just the one license.

And a stock file from the repository may not be the correct one for your vehicle. There are usually 8 segments in a calibration file. There can be different segment numbers for the same year and type vehicle depending o how it is equipped. Unless you know how to check for the correct segment numbers for YOUR vehicle you should not assume that a stock file from the repository is correct for YOUR vehicle.
