I am trying to figure out what hardware was used in the 96-97 LT1 cars...Does anyone know???
All I have found so far is the part number for a 1996 F/Y/B body PCM. It is 16214399. That is all I know. Any help would be great

Yes, basically which processor does it use?

Here are some pics of the internals of a 97 OBD2 LT1 PCM.

The processor is a MC68HC11F1 variant. Search for 16202476 on google and it will lead you to Tom Hussey's DIY post about the 97 PCM.

Actually found some info on this. The OBD2 and OBD1 LT1 computers are very similar. Both use Dual 68HC11's. Not sure what the F1 variant is.
And I have no idea how the dual architecture works....

The 68hc11 is the generic chip. For different requirements of ram, EEPROM, and output type stuff there are different packages. The F1 is one of those packages. If you go to the motorola web site and search for mc68hc11f1 you can get the data sheet for that processor.

It can best be described as two "networked" computers. Each does its own thing, has its own PROM processes independantly of the other but they share some information.
Check out incoming there is a zip file called lt1_obd2_tside.dis. It is a very well done hack of the obd2 side of your computer. It even shows all the correct paging schemes for the 128K on a hc11.
