Technical References - PCM params / bases

I'm having a hard time getting smart about a lot of the
params accessible in this tool, and I haven't been able
to find any good references that will get me past cut-
and-try. I'm talking context and detail, like show me the
abuse mode algorithm as a flow chart or something,
and tell me what does the abuse mode timer do with
a value of zero or 5 instead of 2 (stock).

Are there any known references which go into these
things? I've searched the 'boards including LS1Tuning
and the main LS1-specific ones to no result. I have the
Holden engine managamant .pdf and it's one step up,
    but still pretty superficial.

If there are things you know of, even if you can't provide
them yourself, could you drop me a name / keyword at
least so I can fish more effectively?

the only way you will get this is to study the code yourself at the moment (unencrypted binaries). Documenting all these things would take a loooong time and i'm sure there are many very thick books in GM explaining the theory and workings behind every piece of code in the PCM.

We are improvingthe user manuals all the time to give more of the what and how stuff you are after, it just takes lots of time. I mean even the COT protection code is long and complex, let alone the fuel, spark and airflow calculations...

    Chris,
Speaking for "computer nerds turned auto mechanics", the details of code execution (i.e. flow charts, algorithms, transfer functions, etc.) are less important than simple “change this to do that” help files. Perhaps even a “PCM tuning basics” tutorial.

What kind of users are you targeting? Programmers? Auto mechanics? Car owners? As a car owner, I hope to see help files that are written in “laymen’s terms.”

the help files explain what things do and in some cases an example that assist's in understanding the operation of something, we cannot give tuning advice.

You're right and I didn't think of that. Thanks for pointing that out. My GOD, you'd be opening a big can of "liability" worms if your help files included tuning advice. Thanks for straightening me out. ;D
