    How to Log RAF

Call me stupid, but I can't figure out how to log RAF using the histogram display. Could someone explain how to do it??? I have looked through the help files, emailed support@hptuners twice with no response.... Getting frustrated with the whole deal. I know I will kick myself when I finally see how to do it, and that I am overlooking something simple, but
Oh yea, I am using HP Tuners 2.1.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

    You need to be logging:
    STIT airflow
LTIT airflow In gear (& P/N for auto transmissions)
    To get the RAF values.

On the histogram you should have the base airflow table selected for your vehicle. Then you can either report STIT, LTIT, or STIT+LTIT. The on the histogram builder will tell you how to customize it.

I'm assuming that stuff isn't for the V6, but can you describe the acronyms?

In particular, RAF, STIT and LTIT (Short Term Idle Trim, Long Term Idle Trim?)

I haven't tuned any "late model" v-6's so I'm not sure what applies to what. Lloyde from Fast Fieros is your best selection there.

Running Air Flow = Base Running Airflow Table
In the Idle Airflow Tab under Idle

Ok, thanks. I wonder if we can get that for V6's? My car idles super rich, and really stinks. So much so, that the cops look at me alot. Haven't been pulled over yet, but I suppose it's gonna happen

RAF isnt for rich or lean..its just for amount of air needed to idle..
A/F on V6 on all MAF tables...
adjust your MAF and you will see a change in A/F at idle

Ok, but how will this affect my LTFT's at idle? Currently, I'm close to zero.

What if I increased the Stoich AFR (currently at 14.7002). My afr at idle seems to average out at about 14.3.

    Thanks for the tips BTW.

it will not affect A/F in any way..
and dont change stoich.....it needs to be exactly what it is...and your O2's wont correct accurately for anything other than 14.7ish(stoich)

Ok. My only question is, currently my LTFT's are at 0. If I adjust the MAF so I run leaner at idle, (decrease the lb/min?) won't my LTFT's try to correct more ie) become +'ve? I had tried to adjust the MAF settings for this, but my LTFT's went awry. Or do I adjust the MAF to max the LTFT's so no adjustments are made (+16 LTFT?).

My MAF allowed Delta Positive and Negative are all maxed.

    Thanks,

RAF and MAF have nothing to do with one another...
if your MAF is calibrated correctly then it wont matter what amount of air is coming in...it will still be correct...

RAF is a seperate table from MAF...IF it exists in your calibration then it would appear under the Idle tab...under Idle Airflow...
I do not believe that its in the V6's right now...I dont know if it just doesnt exist..or if its just not added to the HPT software..

you want to adjust your MAF so yoru LTFT's and STFT's are all around 0...this goes for any vehicle...IF you have a V8 then you must make sure your VE table is seeing 0's in Speed Density before adjusting your MAF

Are you tuning with a wideband? If so, what does it read at idle?
If it's pretty close to stoch then you're fine.

I have a wideband, and it's reading (on average) 14.4 at idle. It flatulates between 14.0 and 15.0. Maybe due to the cam? I figured I could idle leaner to help alleviate the smell. Would it be safe to idle at 15.0 or 15.5?

Not having a cat would be illegal in Ontario

From what I understand, I'm probably stuck with it. My MAF calibration is still stock.

Thanks, and sorry for hijacking the thread.

Guess you gotta cut back on the beans...
Yeah, 15 is fine for idle much leaner and it starts acting up on you.

how to setup a custom pid is located in the scanner help file...so is how to load a custom histo...combine the two and bang your done.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
