THE internal PCM SHIFTLIGHT! as seen in HPtuners..

does the shiftlight come on via the gauges serial datastream, or does it have a seperate wire?
if it does have a seperate wire, what connector/pin is it on the ECM? i would like to wire up a PCM controlled shiftlight in my car.....

if its part of a datastream, could you tell me whats in the stream and how to get it out? i can program microcontrollers.

Re: shiftlight - what wire is it?

White wire pin #10 (tach wire) on one of the PCM blocks

Re: shiftlight - what wire is it?

    thats the "tach signal" wire.

i should re specify.... i do NOT mean the normal aftermarket shiftlight wire.

im talking about the output the PCM puts when you turn the "shiftlight" on, in the PCM.....

thats the CAGS wire. if i wanted to make my car skip 2nd gear, that would work.

while its entirely possible for me to tap into the CAGS wire, then set the cags to allways engage at the RPM i wish to shift at... its NOT what im trying to do.

there is a shift light setting.
im 90% sure it sends a message to the gauge cluster via the cluster data wire...
im looking for the info i need to write a program to snatch when its turned on, and let me have my PCM controlled shiftlight.

somewhat over complicated, but intresting to me.

It is not an option on F-bodies, but the HPTeam is working on something for this ... last I heard (read).

is it not a option at all? does it add somthing to the gauge datastream?
if so, where can i get the info i need to connect to the PCM?

if its not there at all:

is it possible to get someone to flip the lookup in CAGS so that it compares RPM instead of Speed? ive done somthing similar with earlier GM ECMs.... basicly changing the speed limiter into a rev limiter..

if i hooked up the CAGS 'noid plug to a light, and flipped it so it was looking at RPM instead of speed, i think i could get it to come on, at a specific RPM...

    lil help?

it is the CAGs light pin, i dunno exactly which it is. It is the same pin as one of the A4 shift solenoids, either 1-2 or 2-3 (thats why it can't be used on A4's).

I *think* it is either one of:
J2-48 (shift solenoid 1-2) light green
    J2-47 (shift solenoid 2-3) yellow/black

    J2 is the red connector.

    I count sheep in hex...

if your ls1 is out of a 2002 camaro then you need pin 79 of connector 1 for the skip shift solenoid output. see if this link works for full pinout.

There is no replacement for displacement?&&sure there is, its called a Blower!

    it is not:

pin 47 on the red connector.
pin 48 on the red connector.
pin 46 on the red connector.

pin 79 on the blue connector

pins 47 and 48 on my red connector do not have wires in them.. i connected by pushing a stiff wire thru the connector. i am positive i had a good connection. esp on pin 47 since it turned the light on. then when i started the car, it shut it off. lol.

    help! what pin/wire is it?

    its kinda depressing.

this is the info im using... taken from this thread:

    Master Enable- ON
    PCM Output- YES
High RPM- set desired shift RPM
    Min ECT- -40
    Max On Time- 409.6
    Low ECT- -40
    Min Clutch Out Time- 0

    Gear Ratios- default settings

    Delay Time- all 0s

Min MAP vs. Gear- all 0s

RPM vs. Gear- set all gears to the same desired shift RPM

RPM vs. Gear - Low ECT- set all gears to the same desired shift RPM

Min TPS vs. Gear- all 0s

Max TPS% vs. RPM vs. Gear- all 100s

Max TPS% Hyst vs. Gear- all 0s

Max TPS% vs. Mult vs. BARO- all 0s

These settings will not activate the CAGS light. They will cause the red C2 pin #47 to go to ground at the specified RPM. To make a shift light, I bought a couple 12 V 17 mA LEDs with resistors from Radio Shack for $1.99 each. I connected them in parallel from a fused 12 V source to the red C2 pin #47. The LEDs turn on at the desired RPM (I used 2000 RPM for testing) and off below this RPM. While the LEDs operate perfectly fine as a shift light, they remined ever so slightly dim at night because pin #47 isn't completely open when not activated. I used a $4.69 12 V 37.5 mA Radio Shack relay and now the LEDs remain completely off until the shift RPM activates them.

ugh, after alot of trouble, i just figured out that i wasnt getting a firm CONSTANT connection to #47. doh!

    pin 47 works.

i still have a followup question... how do i install a pin to the PCM connector, and where can i get the pin??
