Greetings - returning to LS tuning, but now with a LS7

I took a short 2-season break from tuning LS cars with HPT while I owned a GT500. I'm now coming back to the tuning table with a 2011 Chevy Corvette Z06 (Z07) Carbon Edition.

The car is bone stock right now, but I plan to install a CAI, headers, and a ORX on the car in the near future to open it up a little.

Just beginning to read through the how-to section in the Gen4 section of HPT! Should be fun learning the ins and outs of tuning the LS7 engine!

If anyone has good pointers for me, feel free to post them up!

Here's a quick shot from a HPDE event last year at Autobahn in Illinois:

Looks like Bluecat functionality is built into 3.0?

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

Are there any good starter docs on where to begin with tuning the 2011 LS7 E38 PCM? Thanks in advance for any pointers.

I just made essentially the same switch. When you get down to it the tuning is not much different.

Indeed. Pretty much the same stuff any way you slice it.

Closed loop, maf. At least that's my guess. Car will be stock less headers and a cai.

One thing to watch out for is if you flash it when it is hot it will run rich for awhile. If you log injector tip temp. when it is under 150 then you can start paying attention to the scanner results.

I've had the dealer investigate the heads for me. They assured me that they're in good shape. I still have power train warranty for quite awhile, so I'm going to leave the long block alone for the time being.

Doesnt this really only apply to direct injection and diesels?

Interesting. So, this is a temperature issue which can be logged?

Log intake valve temperature and injector tip temp. Or just wait 15 minutes with it idling.

Ok cool... so there's a time related component to it as well. If I'm logging the values, what temps should I be looking for to green light the logged data?

In my experience when the injector tip temp gets to 150 it seems everything falls into place. There is a thread on this forum that has covered this very well it is called rich after flash. I just wanted you to be aware. I know it can drive you crazy if you don't know about it.
