    98 A4 Yank PT4000 wont lock :(

he used to have a 4400...sent it back..got it built as a 4000...
locked perfect before...now it wont lock at all...
commanded lock in VCM controls...and it locks...but as soon as we give it a little gas it unlocks...

log attatched with status bits and a bunch of tranny stuff...

comanded lock in VCM controls at about 950 frames into it....

I have other logs if you want to see....

also..dont mind the wideband info(its not right on this log)..it overheated on me..I need to add a heatsink to it tomorrow when we go to finish the tune up...

and we want to be able to lock teh converter in 3rd in upper rpms at the track tomorrow..but I dont know if thats gonna happen right now cause we cant get it to lock at anything more than 15% TPS..

    thanks for any advice....
we are trying to determine if its the converter(possibly screwed up by YANK) or maybe if the TCC solenoid is bad...or if its an issue in the tune...

IF you want the tune..I can post it...but its a beta that only mods have access to right now..so theres no point cause nobody will be able to read it anyways...but I can do screen shots of the tables or put up a different tune with teh same values in the tables..LOL

Well, it's definitely being commanded to lock up. sounds like there's a problem with the converter if it was ok before.

Need TPS on the scan to see where you are on the tables though.
Pull up the TCC slip values too. Compares In & Out to see if the converter is slipping.

I had a Vette with the speedo scaled wrong & it was reporting 3-500 RPM slip until I fixed the speedo cal. (Probably not the same on an F body though.

Your force motor current is very high, you're blowing off
almost all of the line pressure. Even with TCC at 100%
duty, it's still getting 100% of diddly-squat. This is a GM
line pressure profile problem which you can currently get
at, only in the force motor "layer", no load dependence.

TCC PWM does not show you the TCC Mode, which you
ought to also log. Do not see this in the table, it doesn't
export well and may not plot right either, but this is where
you would see a misfire-induced unlock problem.

I've had problems of both sorts, determine whether the
lock is asserted without adequate backup (pressure,
force motor) or is de-asserted / held off (misfires).

so what do you suggest to do to the force motor current table....
if you have one that sort of remedys the GM crap..please post it or send it to me...I'm sitting in the passenger seat right now..LOL

Here is the table I've been using, specifically to deal
with a weak TCI clutch problem.

The main thing is, at light loads where the PCM wants
to command zero line%, you need enough pressure for
the clutch to hold. The rest of it, I just feathered in
(and it's all in, earlier, by a long shot).

Anyway, this would be an OK starting point, you may
want to slowly back off from there until you start to
see TCC slip at moderate pedal, still 0% line (on my
Camaro this lasts until about 25% TPS). More than
you need is just wasted pumping, less is wasted
    clutch material and heat....

And be sure you like what TCC Mode PID shows you.
If you see something that looks like gibberish in the
table view (not "Unlocked" or "Locked") then you
    are probably fighting misfires.

I'd also put his min TCC duty cycle up to 98% or so
    unless he likes Grandma applies.

The -3- is what I saw when mine was being held off
by misfires. As a diagnostic measure, just set all of
the Misfire tables to 32767 and if it gets all better,
at least you know what the deal is.

Cut lock-up O-ring on the input shaft?
Had that happen to me once. Looked OK but had a "nick" out of it- No Lockup while all scan data indications were OK
