Adding Adjustable Timing Tables

My buddy won a Casper's Timing Commander for his 98 GPGT back in IDD and wants to add adjustable timing tables to his VCM. Is there a how-to write up about this? (I didn't find any).

I would assume it uses iat to adjust? if so you'd just use the iat adder table to pull or add timing for you.

would this procedure be somewhat dangerous, if you dont know what is going on with your AFR or Knock?
